Raw milk is simply that - Milk that is unprocessed, whole, and living with all its beneficial bacteria. Pure, delicious, real milk. Nothing added. Nothing taken away. 

Pasteurizing is a process that flash heats milk to kill off bacteria, a process developed more than 180 years ago by French scientist Louis Pasteur. During the time in which he lived and worked, dairies were unsanitary, and milk was a common vector of pathogens.

In the nearly two centuries since, sanitation has radically improved. Also, science has shown that the pasteurization process damages many of the beneficial nutrients in milk.

Every day, we get asked the question “What is A2/A2 Milk?” The answer is found at the molecular level.

The designation ‘A2/A2 milk’ has to do with the type of beta-casein protein in milk. A2/A2 milk contains 100% A2 beta-casein protein. (Most cows in the US produce a mix of A1 and A2 proteins.) A2/A2 milk can be easier to digest, because it's most like our mother's milk, which contains strictly A2 proteins.

Cow's milk originally contained only A2 beta-casein; but at some point in the past a genetic mutation in the A2 beta-casein protein created the A1 beta-casein variant, which has resulted in most commercially available cow's milk today being a mixture of A1 and A2 beta-casein (A2/A1). Unfortunately, the A1 beta-casein can be difficult for some humans to digest and is linked to a variety of health issues.

Our milk at Myers Milk Co. is A2/A2 and grass-fed only. No grains. No A1 proteins. This herd was not purchased; this herd was single-handedly grown by the Farmer.

Raw milk contains a wide variety of essential nutrients, fats, proteins, anti-inflammatory and digestive enzymes, bioavailable vitamins, and minerals, all in a natural form which is most easily utilized by the body. In addition, raw milk facilitates production of lactase enzyme in the intestinal tract, allowing many people who are lactose intolerant to digest raw milk with few or no problems.
Our dairy is RAW + FRESH
Our fresh milk, buttermilk, butter, and cream have a fresh window of 5–7 days.
Our fermented products—yogurt and kefir—have a fresh window of 3–4 weeks.
A quick note:
RAW dairy does not “go bad” in the same way pasteurized dairy does. Instead, it evolves. After the fresh window, your dairy will naturally begin to break down, transforming through souring, clabbering, or fermenting.
There are countless recipes, tips, and tricks online for using evolved raw dairy—many of which can benefit your plants, pets, and even your family!

Herdshares allow you to become a partial owner of the herd, which then legally entitles you to obtain raw milk. And, as a shareholder of the herd, you are then able to purchase any of the dairy products made from raw milk!

  • You pay a one-time $35 fee for a share ($35 each time you add an additional share) and then pay monthly boarding fees for care and maintenance of the herd.
  • In return, you receive a portion of the milk produced, in whatever form you prefer, based on a fixed amount per week.
  • Myers Milk Co. delivers members' products to designated drop-off points or home delivery if applicable
No, Oregon prohibits samples of raw milk. 
  • Members purchase one jar per share with a one-time, non-refundable fee. They will use this jar within the program for their weekly delivery subscription. Members must return their clean, empty jar to the farmstand, their designated drop site, or have it ready for pickup on delivery day.
  • Members own their jar, but it remains in active use while they participate in the program. If they suspend, forfeit, or end their membership, their ownership is unchanged—they still own their jar free and clear.
